We've recently sorted out the January sales figures for Ars Magica Fifth Edition. They're good, better than expected. In fact, they're even better than we would have expected had the introductory offer not finished at the end of December. We hope to continue to be surprised in this fashion.
Overall, Fifth Edition is selling as well as Fourth Edition did, in a much more difficult RPG market. A new edition is always a bit of a gamble, so it's a great relief to see that this edition is not only well-received by most fans, but selling well, too. I can get on with planning our 2007 releases now. (2005 releases? They're all written, and in various stages of playtest, editing, or layout.)

What no 2006 releases?
ReplyDelete2006 releases are being written even as we speak. :) We actually have a rough idea of what 2007 and beyond will hold, but it's not quite finalized at this point.
ReplyDeleteCool :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the people who picked up the free ArM4 and decided to go with ArM5, so I'm glad to see that you've been doing well with ArM5. I did have a copy of ArM3 and a couple of supplements, but never really did anything with it. Now I'm scurrying round ebay picking up all the ones I don't have. :-)
Since we know what's likely to come out this year, and we have some idea what is coming out in 2006 (The rest of the House line I take it), can you tell us what you're considering for 2007?
Nick the Lemming
There will be more than Houses books in 2006. As I posted in the Delphi forums ( http://forums.delphiforums.com/atlasgames/messages?msg=499.19), this is what the pipeline looks like for 2005-2006:
ReplyDelete1. Guardians of the Forests
2. HoH: True Lineages
3. Realms of Power: The Divine
4. The Mysteries (Revised)
5. Covenants
6. HoH: Mystery Cults
7. Realms of Power: The Infernal
The books beyond are not yet finalized, but we know that it will include another HoH books (the last group, the Societas types) and another Realm book (either Magic or Faerie), plus two other titles.
I'm a long-time fan of ArM, and bought both the Atlas editions. I'm very pleased with the 5th edition and the overall look of the game, and count it a definite improvement over the 4th edition.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that the game is doing well for you.
