Because you asked so nicely, I just put up the Ars Magica 5th Edition character sheet and the formulae review from the book. You can find those PDFs at www.atlas-games.com/arm5
By the way, if you're wondering about the strange color... The files for ArM5 are laid out in two colors. On screen, those colors are Black and Magenta. We needed to use Cyan, Magenta, Black or Yellow as the colors, because in Quark (at least the version we use) you can only define blended colors (say, define a new color as 50% coverage of ink #1, 20% of ink #2) with the four-color process colors. So we were able to create the browns of the various text headers (as opposed to just having them be solid or shades of the spot color) by creating all the files with Black and Magenta, and then instructing the printer to use the second interior color rather than Magenta for the "Magenta" plate.
Anyhow, result is that the files on screen appear in various shades of Magenta. With some effort we could change it to better reflect the way the book actually works...but I'm not sure that it's worth the effort, since folks should probably print out the sheets in black ink only anyhow...
Looks nice, but I hace a few gripes with it: One is the colour, nice but makes me think of a romance rpg (not that Ars can't be romantic). The other is that the list for column for abilites is too small (acting on 4th ed info here). Other than that I think it looks professional and is more exciting thatn the rather dry 4th ed sheet. I hope to get 5th ed this week! Haakon
It's not a "mishap," it's a factor of the unusual two-color process John craftily figured out for the book itself.
Another note: The Wound Levels on the sheet seem to have the old combat system in mind. Wound Levels don't work quite like that anymore. It might be better to have a field where a player can enter in the damage ranges based on his character's Size (from the damage table), and a space to track the total number of wounds and penalties he has suffered.
We'd like to do a form-fillable version sooner or later...and a gray or corrected-color version...but we just have too many other things that are higher-priority at the moment, sorry. (Speaking of which, Guardians of the Forests is likely to be late, because I've been too busy with other things, like packing ArM5 orders, to do my work on it.)

It would be very nice to have an editable pdf character sheet, as for previous edition. BTW, good job.
ReplyDeleteBy golly!
ReplyDeleteDump Quark *immediately*! You NEED to change to Adobe InDesign CS! This kind of color mishap can only be the work of shoddy software.

Hi,
ReplyDeletethe caractersheets are nice, but could we pretty please with sugar on the top, have form field charactersheets as there were for 4.th edition ?
