Honor Shall Be Thy Shield: A True Knight’s Code of Chivalry

Your enemies are strong and they have no honor. They will try to lie about you, poison you, and stab you in the back.

Those you defend are poor and weak. What little thanks you might receive from them will never feed you. It will never protect you.

But you have sworn an oath. Honoring that oath might cost you your fortune, your heart’s true love, or even your life. But it’s your honor that makes you powerful. You fight fair. You stand for justice. You keep your promises. That is what it means to be a knight.

With the release of the Knightly Tales expansion for Once Upon a Time, players are challenged to tell stories of knights and wizards, quests and tournaments. All these trappings help create a tale of chivalry.

But players who want to craft the best stories and weave the most compelling tales must remember that the core of knightly tale is honor. Keep in mind that…

• Characters face trials by combat because, in the world of chivalry, right makes might.

• If truth is on a person’s side, he or she is undefeatable.

• Each threat in a knightly tale is not just a physical danger, it’s a threat to honor. A temptation to give in to cowardice. A good reason to lie — and an equally compelling reason not to.

In a knightly tale, honor is always what’s at stake!

  1. re importantly, your personal experience mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can too
