TableTop Gloom for #TableTopDay

I've been just dying to tell people about International TableTop Day -- not just because it's going to be a worldwide day of fun, but because we did something very special with the folks at Geek & Sundry to celebrate the event: TableTop Gloom!

This is a special mini-expansion of nine new cards for Gloom, with a TableTop theme. Copies will be included among the goodies provided to stores that participate in International TableTop Day. Now Wil and Felicia will be able to join your Gloom family as Unwelcome Guests, your characters can Triumph on TableTop or Distract Dr. Hannah. You could even win the TableTop Trophy of Awesome!

(Folks wondering why our Gloom reprint is about a month later than we'd expected can now know why...we were able to halt production in order to run TableTop Gloom on the plastic that was already purchased for the reprint, and then get the Gloom press run back on track after the promo packs were done.)

International TableTop Day!

Atlas Games is very excited to support the first International TableTop Day!  Felicia Day announces the big event:

This is the Weather the Cuckoo Likes

Our latest offering in PDF, Weather the Cuckoo Likes by Robin D. Laws, remains one of my all-time favorite RPG supplements.  Besides the highly entertaining background of the Cut-Ups -- the Al Amarjan wing of the Chaos Boys, engaged in a pan-dimensional struggle against the forces of Control -- the book includes the Cut-Ups Method as a game mechanic, as well as two scenarios.

You can still get the book in print from Warehouse 23 or your FLGS, but now fans of the Coatless Code who prefer to consume their text digitally also have the option of picking up an electronic copy from e23!

Now in PDF: Wildest Dreams

Wildest Dreams, now available in PDF from e23, brought together three notable game design talents early in their careers: Robin D. Laws, Greg Stolze, and John Tynes.  This "Sourcebook of Nightmare" explores the Al Amarjan underworld around the fictitious drug nightmare, and the characters and groups around it -- not all of them exactly human.  Working on this book was a memorable experience, as we figured out how to blend Greg's secret society-like Exalted Order of Dream Kings with Robin's vision of the Sandman as inhuman sociopaths -- and topped it off with the visceral horror of John's' scenario, "Kill John Doe."

This was one of the first Atlas books where we had the cover files output directly to film, rather than having the printer assemble it out of laser-printed copy and art color separations.  Eric Heisserer helped with this, and is credited with "Invaluable Cover Production Assistance."  He's better known these days not for wrangling CMYK output, but writing scripts in Hollywood.

Enchanting Tales to Press + Cardlist

Enchanting Tales, the magical new expansion for Once Upon a Time 3rd Edition, is off to press today. Take a look at what it'll contain with the cardlist we've just posted on its product page!

One Week Left

The Ars Magica 4th edition clearance bundle is good for just one more week -- don't miss out!  Here are the details.

Parma Fabula Online

Parma Fabula is our latest digital offering at e23.  This out-of-print 4th edition supplement, published in 1996, was a GM screen with a 32-page booklet inside.  In its PDF reincarnation, you get the booklet, plus the contents of the screen which you can print out as handy reference sheets.

Atlas Alumni: Steven Sanders & Symbiosis

Atlas Games has been around since 1990, so we've worked with an awful lot of talented folks over the years.  But for some reason (maybe because I got a Twitter account), this is the year that I am noticing how many of the bazillions of freelance and staff alumni of Atlas years past are busy doing other amazingly cool and creative things in a variety of fields.  Heck, I could do a regular blog feature just calling attention to what's new in the creative lives of folks who wrote/designed/illustrated for us in years past!

Today, for example, a tweet from Will Hindmarch (@wordwill) alerted me to a brand new kickstarter for a project called Symbiosis from Steven Sanders.  Steven did a lot of great cover and interior artwork for Atlas about a decade ago, for numerous Penumbra sourcebooks (including Will's Backdrops), the Nyambe: African Adventures line (including the cover of Ancestral Vault), and the board game Seismic, for example.

Symbiosis looks really cool.  I'm planning to sign up for a hardcover, just as soon as Amazon payments stops whatever glitch is keeping me from making my pledge the last two times I tried.

Now on e23: The Cradle & The Crescent

The latest Ars Magica 5th Edition sourcebook to be available for sale in digital form is The Cradle & The CrescentBuy it now at e23!

Now in PDF: House Call, Unauthorized Broadcast

If the recent release of Invasion for the open-license WaRP System has whet your appetite for Over the Edge, you'll be happy to hear that two little OTE adventure resource booklets from twenty years ago are at long last available in digital form: House Call by Dustin Browder and Unauthorized Broadcast by Robin D. Laws (one of his earliest RPG publications, in fact), both on sale now at e23.

OgreCave Interviews James Wallis

James Wallis, co-creator of Once Upon A Time, has been interviewed by OgreCave about his Alas Vegas RPG kickstarter, OUAT3, and other topics.

A Magical Valentine

'Tis the season to woo your beloved Medieval-style, with a clearance-priced bundle of Ars Magica 4th Edition supplements!  In case you missed it, we are this month offering a crazy deal on a bundle of older Ars Magica books, to help clear needed space in the warehouse.  Click here for all the details!

Gloom Reprint Update

Last month we sold out of Gloom again. We had ordered a reprint in December, but an exciting opportunity arose (more about that in the future, when we can talk about it!) and disrupted our schedule at the printer. The reprint production is now back on track, and we should have the game back in our warehouse around March 4th.

In the meantime, our partners at Warehouse 23 still have the game in stock and ready to fill mail orders.  Also, we still have stock of all three Gloom expansions (Unhappy Homes, Unwelcome Guests, Unfortunate Expeditions), as well as Cthulhu Gloom and its expansion (Unpleasant Dreams).

Tales of Power: Coming in May

The latest Ars Magica supplement to be announced is Tales of Power, a softcover adventure anthology.  Watch for it in May!

Welcome, Cam!

Today was the first day on the job for the new Atlas Games Brand Manager, Cam Banks. So far his job has largely consisted of rearranging furniture and downloading system updates for his shiny new MacBook Pro.  That's likely to change tomorrow, when the day will begin with him having both a desk and a computer on which to work!

In Case You're In Chicago...

Keith Baker will demo Gloom at Cat-n-Mouse Games in Chicago tomorrow night:

(Lion of the North is actually a 3rd Edition supplement, published by Wizards of the Coast when they owned the game in the early '90s, but there's enough room to fit one more book in a large flat-rate box for the international shipments, so in it goes!)

Why are we doing this? Space is tight in our warehouse. We need to reprint larger quantities of our top-selling products in order to keep up with demand – and we need space for the new products in our pipeline (including the continuing line of Ars Magica 5th Edition sourcebooks). Before increasing our overhead by renting more warehouse space, we need to make some tough decisions about older products that no longer sell at a rate that justifies the space they occupy. These clearance books are all over eight years old and were designed for the old 4th Edition (which, in case you didn't know, you can download free from e23).  They're still great books, but few of our distributors even stock them any longer.

If you are a retailer or wholesaler interested in purchasing any or all of these titles in bulk, feel free to contact me (john@atlas-games.com) with a proposal.

After this clearance ends, I plan to order a pickup from the recycling center to destroy most or all of what remains unsold. In any case, we'll be back to charging the old full price on any copies we do keep around after this clearance special is done. We will also continue to sell all of these books in digital format from e23.  If you've been thinking about filling in the gaps in your Ars Magica 4th Edition book collection, don't miss this sale!
